REVERSED PIECE
a dance piece for everyone ages 8 and above
I'm so afraid of people's words. They say everything so clearly: And this one is called dog and that one is called house, and here is the beginning and the end is there.
I'm also worried about their meaning, their play with ridicule. You know everything that will and was, no mountain is wonderful to them anymore; their garden and property borders on God.
I always want to warn and defend myself: stay away. I love hearing things sing. You touch them: they are rigid and silent. You're all killing things for me.
- Rainer Maria Rilke -
Reversed Piece seeks the essence of things and the absurdity of what seems logical. It is an attempt at togetherness and the question of what that actually is. Two performers trip over their feet and sweaters and get lost in inversions. In their search for the lost logic, they discover the magic of leaving familiar patterns. Body parts become strange and are sorted according to some strange system.
“I’m in the right spot at the right time but I’m the wrong person” - J.
Reversed Piece illuminates the change in the shape of togetherness and the other person: what am I? What are you? What's the right way up when I'm the wrong way around? Everything reveals itself over time.
But even when it comes to time, you don't know exactly...
“I’m the right person in the right spot at the wrong time“ - B.
